I was hopeful about the app but the microphone does not work - ever time I try to use the microphone the app crashes
If this is the exact English signing no thank you. There is more fingerspelling then signing the word. For as much as this app cost I expected more than just fingerspelling.
This is a great idea and concept but there is PLENTY of room for improvement. For instance, there are many common words that aren't in the library (like many numbers, i.e. The sign for fifteen according to the avatar is signing a one followed by a 5). Further, many words are simply finger spelled rather than showing the real sign. This is probably done in order to attest that they have the 11,500 words in their dictionary. For instance, they don't even have the sign for the verb "do" - such a common word, yet the avatar simply finger spells it! There should also be some form of feedback mechanism to send suggestions for signs not in their system yet. This is especially true for the words they just finger spell, which I find to be a total cop out. This app is great as a SUPPLEMENT to other ASL tools like books or flash cards. Given the limited scope of the word pool, I would highly suggest that you have other resources at the ready.
