AlbumMixer - Shuffle by Album

This app has a nice interface and seems to be better than some others at picking truly random selections, but it is worse than the free apps when it comes to maintaining a playlist. I want to shuffle albums on my car stereo with some continuity (actually listening to a whole album followed by another). If I get out of the car for a few hours and do some other things on my phone, this app “forgets” the playlist it had going. I don’t want to start a new shuffle every day, or even multiple times in a day.

This app has useful features that should have been standard in Apple's music player. Since they are not this app is great. Beware that as of the current version 1.22 filters are unreliable and you may end up hearing stuff that should have been filtered out. I contacted the developer about this so hopefully it gets fixed. Update: the dev worked with me to quickly solve the filter bug. Yay for responsive devs!

I really want to like this, but there is a flaw in the randomization algorithm. The same group of about 20 albums (maybe more or less, I've never tried to count) is shuffled over and over and re-shuffling simply changes the order rather than loading a new group of albums. So if you wait long enough you just end up listening to the same things over and over again while the majority of music on your device is ignored. This is the only thing that is stopping me from using it regularly.
