Reviews: What People Think About wishoTouch Japanese dictionary

Easily worth $20 if you're not a complete noob at kanji and can draw the radicals with the proper stroke order. If you *are* a complete noob, I recommend Skritter. I only wish it were easier to look up words formed from multiple kanji more easily. Thankfully at least you can copy+paste individual kanji into Denshi Jisho. Slow, but it works. I also wish there were a "by Radical" function like Denshi Jisho, but without having to search for the radicals visually. Then it would be 5 stars.

I have had this app for years now and it has served me very well. I don't use the dictionary all that much, I'm more about the handy kanji writing dictionary- perfect for on the fly readings- no knowledge of radicals needed at all, just simply write the character out in the correct way and you'll get the apposite hit before you know it! This is what makes this app worth the price in my opinion- it's a cut above. Purchase it without any fears, it will most definitely serve you well, whether you have an advanced or rudimentary knowledge of Japanese and Kanji characters alike!

Audio playback is getting cut off; only the end of a word or sentence is heard. I have purchased the Enhanced Audio add-on. I think the free iOS system voices for Japanese text to speech sound better. Can we have an option to just use those instead? Will update review after this bug is fixed.
About wishoTouch Japanese dictionary
Save time looking up Japanese with wishoTouch. This universal app turns your iPhone/iPad into a powerful, easy-to-use dictionary that packs some unique features.

wishoTouch comes with its own full-screen kanji handwriting pad. You need to know the stroke order, but results are sorted in such a way that most of the time you don't need to draw the whole character. You can also find kanji by radical, number of strokes, meaning etc., rotate the device to quickly thumb through related characters, and watch interactive stroke-order animations for 6,355 kanji.

And that's not all. Tight integration with a word dictionary lets you seamlessly jump between a kanji and its compounds. This integration makes use of multitouch gestures: touching a kanji shows its details, while touch-holding gives you other options.

Hunting for Japanese words and kanji has never been simpler or more enjoyable!

NOTE: Basic knowledge of hiragana and kanji stroke order is recommended.
