The content, of course, is wonderful, but I wish the application were more polished. As another reviewer has noted, it’s not obvious how to search for words with e∂ (more properly ∂æt) and thorn. I agree that reversing the dictionary would be nice, but it probably too much to ask; but simple search would be useful.

Just Me or maybe not

I love having BT in the palm of my hand. It's so much easier than using the web version and definitely easier than toting around the physical copy. I was hesitant about buying it because of so many poor reviews. I realized, though, that some of the reviewers didn't know what they were getting. If you are looking for something to help you with Shakespeare or the King James Bible, this isn't it (those works aren't Old English). This also isn't the OED. However, for OE students or scholars, this is a convenient app.

When I took courses in Old English, the Bosworth and Toller dictionary crucial in figuring out translations. The book is also huge. At that time, no one would have thought you could carry it in a device that fits in the palm of your hand. This is a great app for scholars translating Old English. If you are a fan of JRR Tolkien, it's worth the $1.99 to see where he gets names for the Rider's of Rohan Few others will find it interesting.
