The app itself can be mildly clunky at times, but not that insane. I'd call it decent quality overall. The camera itself works good, especially for the price. It does, unfortunately, struggle to track Azimuth objects like Pinwheel or M13 though, it works much better on lower large sky objects. I've taken numerous good quality image stacks under rural skies between city and town light domes. I also wish DL would give us a "manual" auto tracking mode. I haven't found one if there is, and what I mean is that after I point it at a random section of sky, we can set the camera to auto-track that random section. Regardless, the DWARF 3 is definitely worth the buy and I would definitely recommend to any person wanting to give deep sky imaging a run. The Atlas is nice to, because I can use other apps to find an object and then search it in the atlas. I would also like it if DL would consider adding a cardinal (North, South, East, West) directional indicator for their Atlas objects. Right now the Atlas only gives degrees. A direction indicator could save some time for amateurs who are learning the sky and let them disregard objects that might be behind trees or buildings they are near.
App is pretty easy to use. I can see how it would get complicated trying to find tune everything but this is an amazing little telescope/camera and Iโve had no problems with the app. Very straightforward, I was taking amazing pictures within 20 minutes of getting acquainted with the app. I read a lot of bad reviews of the app after buying the telescope and got scared, but Iโm very impressed. Nothing better than sitting in a warm house on a cold night looking at the stars and taking photos. The telescope has one of the best calibrators Iโve ever used on a telescope.
I got the telescope expecting nice things, but I wonโt hold the app accountable for my buyerโs remorse. But the app itself was one of the main selling points and this app, by itself, is cancer on my phone. I have to reboot the program after every session if the camera loses the connection. Itโs frozen, no features are tappable. Itโs also not uncommon for an entire reboot of iOS after a session. Thatโd be cool if the app was anything more than a glorified 720p selfie stick. It lacks an intuitive viewing mode. Focus never works, it seems unresponsive with no feedback. It may be skill or more reading up, but my iPhone takes better, more detailed pictures. Looking with the naked eye shouldnโt give the most detail while viewing. I donโt know how tied the app team is to their hardware, but itโs been my worst regrettable purchase and worst regrettable app that Iโve downloaded in several years.
