This story is frankly just not up to the standard set by Parliament of Knives or Night Road. The pacing feels entirely off, there is no clear indication of the consequences of choices, potential allies you try to court are murdered in the next scene (literally happened not once, not twice, but three times in my play through). To avoid being entirely negative, the core concept of a VtM story set outside the United States with Camarilla elders paranoid by Gehenna prophecy with influence from Greek myth is cool. The execution was just excruciating. If you enjoy VtM as a political drama, get Parliament of Knives. If you want a single player V5 table top chronicle complete with skill and inventory management get Night Road. Don’t get this.
Starts out decently enough but quickly deteriorates. This should not have been released in this state - it’s barely 1/3 complete.
I’m a V20 player, so it’s always a little difficult reading V5 stories. I didn’t like all the modern politics, but I’m used to having to ignore those kinds of things. I can’t help but to compare it to Parliament of Knives and Night Road, both of which are better, in my opinion. I would like more achievements, as well. That being said, it’s still an enjoyable story. I only have 8 achievements so far, but I’m looking forward to getting the rest. I like the core cast of characters and the setting. It’s nice to have a story outside of North America. SotS is great if you’re craving more VTM content and you need a fix.
