I’ve been trying out a couple of different mental health apps and I just stumbled across this one and decided to try it. Right away I had to put in my phone number and full name which as is makes me a little uncomfortable, I don’t like using my full name on social media or in apps like this, especially considering this is a mental health app. Then it asked me to put in my email as well as some other optional personal information. These things aren’t super uncommon for social media-type apps but the fact that it’s a mental health app specifically it gives me bad vibes. Of course then there’s a pop up for a membership because every app needs to have a subscription service now. Once I got past all of that I finally got to the home page where I found… ads. About a third of the home page is populated with ads for the silk + sonder shop and it made me feel a little overwhelmed. A lot of this app felt disingenuous, it felt like it cared more about aesthetics and money than actual mental health. Idk, other people seem to really like it and I found out this app is made to accompany a journal so maybe it would be more appealing if I had that but for me it just gave me bad vibes.
I just really got to look through my journal for the first time yesterday and I’m thrilled! I’ve been trying to keep track of all these things in my day planner and then I run out of room for my schedule and I can never read what I wrote I am so excited to keep all of my personal self-care separate from my date book. Thank you so much for creating such a user-friendly, amazingly useful, self growth, tool thank you I really needed this. I was almost killed two years ago being run over by a truck in a crosswalk. I have a traumatic brain injury. I’ve only been using your journal for three days and I can feel a new sense of calm thank you and thank you for meeting my very long review. I really appreciate this journal and all the work that went into it sending love and gratitude to the amazing SilkAndSonder team and thank you thank you to the creator for bringing this into my world
If you make the decision that the service is not for you, they make it incredibly difficult to cancel. I logged into their website to cancel and could not find the cancel button. So I tried to pause my subscription for a month until I had more time to figure it out (my husband has been in the hospital and I’m taking care of 3 kids on my own). Despite pausing the subscription, they still charged me. I contacted them and asked them to cancel. I got some generic response saying if I wanted to cancel I had to go onto their website and log in to cancel (again, already tried this) and they wouldn’t give me a refund because I didn’t cancel before my subscription renewed (but I had tried to pause it…. They just ignored it). This is extremely fishy and dodgy. It’s also insulting that in their generic copy and paste response that they called me “their favorite customer” when they clearly didn’t bother to read the message I sent them. I really don’t know what to do to get them to stop charging me because I’ve contacted them and they show no interest in actually helping me. I would not recommend giving them your credit card information.
