Wen - Chinese Character Origin

I’ve been learning Chinese on Duolingo for a few months now, and was looking for more supplemental study material. This app looks perfect for helping demystify hanzi characters so they aren’t just strokes and shapes on the page. The first example was rén 人 (person)，and it explained that it represents a sideview standing person , then showed how it exists in a modified form inside ní 你 （you). The connections were made, I had my first aha, and I was inspired to write this review. I can’t wait to learn more!

So glad I found this app! It’s so clean and works so well, and it’s just got such a beautiful layout to it. The characters are even broken down into radicals and and components, with example sentences highlighting the component in each Hanzi which is AMAZING. It even tells you the origin of the Hanzi, words that look similar, words with same characters (which’s I love!) and the sounds given to the Hanzi. Too many good things to list! I can’t write enough great things about this app! Beautifully done and it’s one of my new favourite Chinese learning apps hands down!! Thank you!! If you’re studying Chinese, definitely get this app!

This app is incredible. I was trying to compile a list of common components from a bunch of different websites- this has exactly what I wanted plus a ton more stuff, presented very elegantly. Thanks to the developer :)
