This App helps this TCG stand out from the other TCGs out there: I really love having an app that steps me through how to play a game instead of having to depend on a video. I also love how much freedom this App gives you after you have gone through the preliminary lessons: it allows me to think for myself just like an in-person match would while at the same time giving advice for what you need to look out for. I enjoy playing this app once a day to fulfill my TCG fix and improve my general playing habits. Overall, it gets the job done and this is a rare service that the other TCGs should offer to their beginning players. The only caveats I have is that I wish that there was a setting for “Novices” and a setting for “Amateurs”. This app has really helped me how to learn this game so my skill level has naturally improved from the practice. So some matches have started to feel kind of dull because the A.I. will make poor decisions (examples are: my opponent will unnecessarily block with their strongest Digimon, usually WarGreymon ACE, against my Gotsumon which will end up giving me a HUGE advantage; the A.I. will typically keep their Digimon in the Breeding Area if they already have a Digimon out in the Battle Area which results in far less pressure on the receiving end; the A.I. will not attack with their Lvl. 5 Digimon if they have an ACE Digimon in their hand so I can usually stall them out by simply not attacking - this sometimes even goes as far as just waiting for them to deck out). The A.I. making dumb decisions is probably great for total beginners (e.g., novices), but now I crave an online learning experience that is more challenging.
Been looking to get into DIGIMON tcg and found this tutorial; there are two, teach you how to play levels and three full battles against AI. I’m here to say the Red deck battle was pretty tough! I’m no tcg expert but I’ve been casually playing my whole life and the first tutorial felt like the red deck is just garbage and not to buy it if starting out. The blue deck is by far the best deck out of the tutorial. The app won’t fit your phone screen perfectly but it’s serviceable enough for the 20-60 minutes you might play it to see if you like the game before buying physical cards. Holding on the card will bring up more details on the card as well. Overall the app could be more appealing but I understand it’s also just a quick tutorial app and it works great. Will definitely be picking up some starter decks to play with friends.
This is my first ever review for a card game, I have played a lot in the past 14 years of my life and have thankfully enjoyed it so far. This is my opinion, please don’t just look at mine when getting into this game. This app is great over all, would suggest it to anyone who is slightly interested. Then when you think about getting into it, think first before you do. This game is unique but reminded me too much of Weiss Schwartz and Cardfight Vanguard. The only difference being that you could lose your monster in this game rather then it’s attack being blocked. The breeding phase is also unique, which leads to people having it feel more consistent with each match. You also have the choice to attack directly which is nice leading to a little more strategy. I so far have not went further into the meta of this game to give it a fair argument on balance. The last thing I have to say is before getting into this game check out Magic The Gathering Arena or Duel Links before making the decision of going into Bushiroad like cars games. If you are a huge Digimon fan then go for it, but if you want to continue in this first read up on budget decks and people judging the trial decks. This information will help you in the future in case you go to a FLGS (Friendly Local Game Store). This is my opinion which means it should only give you an idea to either be fine with it or disagree. Either way do what makes you have fun, and please don’t get into this game without doing research. Also don’t buy booster packs early into this game, buy singles instead, it’s cheaper.
