Three reviews at present all of which have similar words and the exact phrase “necessary for family” makes these reviews very suspect.
That said, I gave the trial a try and it seems to work as described so if you are looking for this kind of functionally I say go for it.
Minus one star for the suspicious reviews.

This app does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It connects to any Sonos speaker or system that is set up in your house. I’ve had it for about four months now and it’s a great way to get a hold of the family without having to yell through the house. Also works with external speakers connected to your Wi-Fi system, so you can talk to people outside.
