My experience with the FreeStyle Libre has been disappointing. After certain iPhone software updates, the continuous glucose streaming stops working properly or becomes unreliable. This is a serious issue for people who depend on real-time glucose monitoring every day. What is even more disappointing is the customer support. The suggested solution was simply to avoid updating the iPhone until the app becomes compatible with the new iOS version. This is not a realistic recommendation. Users should not have to delay important operating system updates, including security updates, just because the app is not ready. Another major drawback is that when you switch to a new phone, all your historical data disappears from the app. Although the data remains available in LibreView, the app itself no longer provides access to the 15-, 30-, and 90-day trends and statistics that many users rely on to manage their diabetes. Losing this functionality significantly reduces the value of the application. For these reasons, I cannot recommend the FreeStyle Libre system. I will be switching to an alternative CGM that offers a more reliable user experience, better data continuity, and more practical customer support.
Every time there is a iOS update it loses the live update and have to scan every time. Also when reinstalling you lose all the previous data.
The overall experience is very nice and it helps me a lot managing my diabetes. However there are some things that can easily be updated to make the experience even better. One thing is the “try again in 10 minutes” message when the sugar level is changing rapidly. There is no indication and it can be confusing, especially when you are somewhere where you cannot measure the blood sugar level the traditional way. I think it should show the direction, if it is going up or down and also display the last value it had. That alone will make the experience way better.
