Reviews: What People Think About Little Timer Hatch Countdown

I looked everywhere for a timer app without invasive in app purchases and that was easy to use, in the sense that it has a nice SIMPLE interface (a timer should be a simple as possible in my opinion). Whenever I was looking for Pomodoro style timers, since I like the clock noise and the native clock app doesn’t have that…most of the apps on the market do 20 other things and are about a more comprehensive organization scheme..I just wanted the timer and I’m very happy with this one. Yes there are wallpapers you can buy, but nothing annoying in the app like adds or offers to upgrade all the time. It’s for children so I think that’s why it’s simple and cute. I don’t care I’m an adult and I LOVE the cute aesthetic and annoying little farm animal noises at the end….it makes me happy and it’s actually a lot prettier than a lot of the interfaces.

This app is delightful and my 2.5 yo loves it. The default song that plays at the end is a total hit in our house. Love that in the paid version you can choose which animals appear - we rotate them for continued surprise. There’s 1 key issue that I wish the developers would fix. In the main timer interface, there are several prominent buttons (one to choose which animals appears, one to choose the song, one to choose a background, and one to choose an additional reminder that plays at the end of the timer). I would so happily pay for the ability as a parental user to HIDE those buttons from view in the timer interface. My 2.5 yo LOVES toggling those buttons and it’s become so distracting for him that it almost defeats the purpose of the timer itself. We may give it up and switch to an analog timer clock. I love this app and wish there was that additional control I described.

I’m a Special Education teacher and it can be difficult for my students to understand the concept of time / timers. Traditional timers don’t work very well for them. Transitions are very important. I recently discovered this app, paid the one time payment of $2.99 and got access to everything. You can customize the pictures that the egg hatches, the sounds and the background. It’s not over complicated and is very effective! My students loved waiting to see what animal would hatch! The only recommendation I have that would be helpful is if there was a feature to make the buttons not push able while the timer is on (I.e. a “kid safe” feature), since sometimes my students try to touch or tap the screen on my phone and can mess up the timer. I’m also wondering if there is a Web/PC version.
