Listenable: Learn with Audio

Instructors are a mixed bag, some are decent, but quite a few are painful to listen to, often due to vocal quality, but also a fair amount of the lesson content seems trite. There appears to be minimal quality control when it comes to instruction, so I found it wasn’t worth the hassle to try and sift through to find decent courses or instructors. I love the idea, and even the UI is good, but the overall execution of content is disappointing. That being said, I did want to like the app, and I was hoping to use this on long car rides, but no way to download the lessons so it’s entirely dependent on an internet connection. I found it’s not really worth listening to in any other context. There may be some hidden gems, but they remain hidden. The biggest issue is the lack of transparency for cancelling. The state you can cancel through iTunes subscriptions, but if you happen to sign up through the website, that is not an option for you and there is no other option mentioned in the app help section. This means it’s unclear how to cancel if you exclusively use listenable through the app as I did. It leaves you with no clear information on your subscription status, no email notifications or receipts, and you be be billed unexpectedly as I was, and left with unhelpful customer service in these circumstances.

Excellent! Can’t believe how much I learned in such a tiny amount of time- incredible really. Macken Murphy manages to corral a massive subject into a short story but without making the topic feel oversimplified. In fact, I feel super informed now and his amusing, entertaining style makes the information very easy to remember. I hope he does another one!

Excellent customer service! I had a couple technical difficulties with the sound and the voice speed of the instructor. The support group recommended that I delete the Listenable App and re-download it. Magic!!! It worked. I purchased a one- year subscription and looking forward to learning something on my daily walks😃 Thanks!!
