I’ve never written a review for an app before, but I almost didn’t buy this because of the lack of reviews, so here you go. This app worked perfectly despite not having service for many parts of the journey. I loved that it started automatically based on our location and told many great stories about the area and original (foreign) settlers you couldn’t find elsewhere. It was a perfect guide for my family trip driving around Acadia park loop. So fun, definitely worth $7.99.
This app is fine, if somewhat unspectacular. The narration is adequate and the narrator does a nice job. Pretty good odds you will learn a thing or two from what he has to say. If you’ve experienced the remarkable GyPSy Guide GPS apps, just know ahead of time but this is nowhere near that quality. The interface is clunky. It doesn’t allow you to listen to music, kindly interrupting like the GyPSy guide does. The GPS gates are omni-directional, and not very well-timed. The narrator interrupted himself more than once with the next gate. (And no, we weren’t driving too fast.) And this is only narration for one path in the park: the road from the main visitor center up to the top of Cadillac Mountain. There are entire areas of the park that are entirely ignored. In spite of these shortcomings, we are still glad we bought it. It just could have been so much more. Wish GyPSy had it’s own version…
We read previous reviews and decided to buy it . Saved us $70. We went at our pace and spent most of the day around the park. We liked that it automatically started as we approached a point of interest. Make sure you download the tour before the actual visit. With the Covid19 we thought this is a great alternative rather than travelling with a group of people. We wish that the tour offered more tales of the park while still in between the highlights and worked well on Bluetooth. We did had some connections issues but that got resolved automatically.
