As the author of one of the books on the Bookey platform, imagine my surprise to get a Google Alert letting me know that my book has been “summarized” by Bookey, and that the “summary” is now available for purchase. Imagine my even greater surprise to find that Bookey didn’t bother to credit me as an author of my own book. And that all of the “quotes from the book” listed on the Bookey website don’t appear in the book at all—they have been entirely fabricated by Bookey. Meanwhile, the “summary” they’ve created is wildly inaccurate and not at all a reflection of the book. It’s clear, from reading these materials, that their team didn’t read the book—instead, they copy/pasted something from ChatGPT, and now they’re trying to sell it to you. (At no benefit to the actual authors, of course.) If they’re willing to steal from authors, what will they steal from you? If you’re going to give them your credit card information, you should know it’s going to scam artists who are openly selling a fake product.

bookey offers me time to go through the important parts of a book (I tend to wander and have difficulty focusing understanding books when authors tend to overdo) It also gives me enough idea whether or not I should purchase the whole book version or not! I like the other contents that are added: the motivational snippets, interview of notable people who I am not familiar with! It is easy to use! I like the fact that I can choose between reading or listening to it! The price I paid is reasonable to what I get fr the app! I just wish I could figure out how to repeat a a part of the book (or a chapter bookey) than repeating fr the very beginning of the book! If you are after novels to transport you somewhere else, this is not the app you would like to have!
