The Star ePaper

No ability to save articles. I’m a journalist and I want to be able to archive stories for ideas and background info. At least to be able to go to print dialogue and save as pdfs. Nope. I can do from the webpage on my laptop but not on the app. If the Star wants to see how to make a highly functional virtual newspaper app (which also allows easy saving/printing of articles) check out The Edge Malaysia.

How can the leading English Daily in a country ever come up with such a crappy app ? Nothing seems to work. Downloads take forever for such a simple thing as downloading a single day’s issue of newspaper, notwithstanding the fact that we are paying an annual subscription for it. Even after updating the app everytime, it still faces the same problems . If the App Store ever allows us to issue 1/2 a star for rating, I would have done so without any hesitation.

After many email complains to the paper’s management they have finally got their “developers” to solve the frequent crashes and silly screen capture restriction. It should not have taken this long for a major newspaper to resolve these complaints. With this 1.4 release I’ve not experienced anymore “crashes”. Finally.... I now rate it 4 stars
