I think this app is perfectly executed by the developer. Itโs extremely useful, has the ideal set of features, and is super easy to use because itโs totally obvious how to use it no matter how forgetful you are. If youโre like me you find that the increasing complexity of being online requires filling out text messages, emails, social media, physicians wellness sites, drop down boxes, educational sites, comments sections, etc. etc. with information that you want to be effectively written so that itโs understood correctly by the recipient. Itโs easy make costly, harmful or hurtful mistakes when trying to get your written point across in so many different situations. This app is your sloppy copy to work out the bugs and thoughtfully read what youโre going to say before rushing to hit the submit button on the target app. 1) Type it on the Scrap Paper first. (Set it side by side with the target app if you want to go back and forth). 2) Fix your mistakes on the Scrap Paper 3) Share it directly into text messages, emails, other apps, etc Or: Cut it and paste it where you need it In settings you can change font, font size, font color, background color, sync to your devices Iโm really happy with it. It does relieve the stress of trying to create effective communication online.
The ultimate scratch pad for macOS and iOS. On the Mac it lives in the menu bar and can be brought to the front with a hotkey, giving you the same functionality as Raycast's floating note. You can choose the text and background colors , as well as the font. You have the discretion to keep the open window on top of all other apps (recommended). When not in use, you just close the window and it keeps the content safe. You can export the text via the share sheet and because it's text, you have access to tools like spelling and grammar, search and replace and even text to speech. You can even keep Scrap Paper synced between Macs and iOS with iCloud. I use the app a dozen or more times a day.
Micro. Applications. Micro. Services. Micro. INTERACTIONS. I don't need an application to tell ME what to do. I need a specific function fixed in the way I want it fixed. The simply lack of ANY decent color pickers in the App Store illustrates this point perfectly. I want to hit a hotkey, click a point, and have that hex value copied to pasteboard. I DON'T want a mixer. I DON'T need a window offering me 100 things I can do with this color. I WANT a bloody hex value. Scratch paper nails this. I can hit a hotkey (โโฅโ\ in my case), it opens a persistant (Spanning ALL of my Macs! NICE touch) text editor I can slapdash a quick string into, and with a quick stroke of the hotkey again, it's gone. Saved, held, and shared across system, still there when I summon it again. Then there's the auto copy on select feature... again: nicely thought out. Realising this will likely be a scratchpad, the tool REDUCES workflow steps instead of adding more. To the author: This tool is PERFECT the way it is. DO. NOT. ADD. MORE. FEATURES. You will serve ONLY to bloat it and render it less appealing, unless it is truly disableable or can be entirely rendered invisible. If you truly MUST append worthless bloat to it ("people need checkboxes!" or similar idiocy), FORK the source and release a "Pro" version or some nonsense. But as it stands? OUTSTANDING work.
