I highly recommend this app especially if you havent composed a resume in several years. I believe this app would be helpful during middle and high school in many areas. Example apply for a fictious job relating to what they learned at certain time intervals during that grade. Peer job interviews.
This is a really well done app, that is lightweight and encourages some really good practices around CV/resume writing. It helps make it easier to get a resume done and to keep the information organized and updatable. I also appreciate that it can help with rewriting suggestions, although I do look forward to those suggestions improving over time as AI gets better. One somewhat minor issue is that on the Resume Scan feature, it shows me errors that don’t actually seem to be there. Specifically, it says that I’m starting Career Bullet Points with the word “I” instead of an action verb, and yet I carefully inspect every one of my bullet points and none of them start with the word “I,” although some do start with action verbs that start with the letter ‘I’. After working on a couple of different iterations with the app, I put my CV/resume into a CV assessment tool online, and it gave feedback that I should use more action verbs (not managed), less bullet statements, and focus more on achievements.
This is by far the best App for resume building as I love it’s concept. I have used this for my resume for 6+ years now and got my family and friends to use it too. I love the honor system concept and it’s that sort of thing that receives my brand loyalty. I only have a few annoyances and used work arounds for them but it’s time consuming. For example I have a side hustle in the Arts field but I also am a single parent and need my corporate benefits and guaranteed salary. So I have 2 resumes to highlight each field. However I can only save 1 at a time and it’s a lot of copy and paste to update every time I need to add something. Although maybe the new iOS will allow editing (I’ll see) but it’d still be nice to have available in the app. Also I have been called out for the date format. I was criticized for using 2 digit years in my work history but there’s no way to make it display 4 digit year. I’m interviewing today and being passed through for the 3rd one, I need access to my resume to send the company directly instead of on my candidate profile (3rd party site). I had to get a new phone recently so I downloaded CV from the cloud… however my resume isn’t there and has to be redone every time I get new phone! This is putting a snag in my day and process with potential employer. I went to the honor system payment screen where there is a restore button. Upon pushing it I get a thank you message but still no resume. Please if possible make it to where I don’t have to manually re enter all of my info again. Aside from these things this is an amazing app. Thank you CV Engineer!
