Outdoorsy - Rent an RV

I’m not even sure where to start….the authentication problem reported months ago still exists even though app is updated. 5 taps (I just counted) to simply check my messages. Which I’ve had to do about a dozen times today because the payment system isn’t functioning. I tried to book a reservation using a card we’ve previously used and saved, but the app errored out with a message about a problem cvv, name, or expiration date yet no way to check that info. So I added a new card which I triple checked but the Submit button never worked. So I exited the reservation to add the card in our payment profile, and the app then expired the reservation and I couldn’t rebook. So I needed to message the host then call Outdoorsy support to try to make the camper available again so I could start the whole process over. They were going to fix the availability problem (had same problems yesterday leading to same availability problem; they fixed availability) but never did fix it today. We ended up moving our campsite reservation out a few months because we had no idea if we’d have a camper tomorrow. Oh, btw, support told me to try the website, hence this review of the app. This doesn’t even include the fact the “2 minute survey” button never worked. They do have friendly support representatives and I was able to talk to an actual person pretty quickly (multiple times today). And our prospective host was amazing as we tried to make this work. So…people good, app bad

Rented a higher end RV to go beach camping for the forth of July weekend. Arrived at the site and after unpacking, opened the sink drawer to find a family of roaches running around. There were roach traps and roach spray, but a roach issue had never been disclosed to us. We thought about roughing through it, but then opened the drawer under the table area where our five year old daughter was going to sleep. Surprise. More roaches. We packed up and returned the RV the same day. It’s been five days since the incident and I have not yet received a refund. Customer service said sorry and that someone from a disputes team would be in touch. No one has contacted me yet. I’m not sure anyone would want a hotel room with roaches, an Airbnb with roaches or an RV with roaches. It’s just downright gross. Host was kind and helpful, but also overlooked multiple things (linens were stained, no pillow cases, black mold on curtains, undisclosed dash cam that recorded our conversations, fridge was dirty and had not been cleaned). RV drove well and host was pleasant to work with, which is why this is not a one star review. I just wish outdoorsy would have taken my issue more seriously and made it a priority to address and resolve. Also, a day after unloading, my wife found a roach inside our house and now we need to pay for an exterminator to come. Just an all around nightmare situation caused by lazy hosts and mediocre platform rules.

we had a great time with the RV, and the owners were really accommodating and even anticipated our needs. I highly recommend the use of this app for RV travel. On our trip, we purchased the highest possible insurance from the app. It was called the "Peace of Mind" level of insurance. We scraped the driver side of the RV against a pole while trying to drive up to a fuel pump. I thought that the app insurance would take care of everything and that my insurance would not need to get involved. But this is not how the app insurance works. The app insurance requires us to go file a claim with our own insurance first. Then, after our own insurance denies the claim, that is when the app insurance kicks in. I want you to know that. Our personal car insurance company told me that they would help only after the app insurance is exhausted. So that was very good for us. I wanted the app insurance to take care of everything, because that is why I bought that insurance from Outdoorsy. At first, I had been upset because I thought that the app insurance was going to take care of everything from the start. But finally, I am satisfied because the app insurance did end up taking care of everything. I hope you will consider getting the “peace of mind “ plan from the Outdoorsy app when you rent an RV here, because I don’t think you would like to have your personal car insurance paying for any mishaps that come from inexperience in driving a large vehicle.
