This app is amazing but it broke my E string So this afternoon I was using this app and it told me to keep loosening my violin so I did. But then I saw that the string was too loose so I tried tightening it. Then the wood thing (bridge) came off. My mom saw it so she tried tightening it and then the E string broke off. I just wanted to write this so then every violinist knows that this is normal to happen and that your violin teacher could probably fix it.
So, let me just say that this is a great app for musicians and people that are looking for an app that helps them improve their music. You can download your own music, you can choose whatever instrument you want (keyboard, strings, woodwind, etc.) and it just magically listens to what you play and helps you fix your mistakes and stuff. There’s even an Audition where you play a couple of black keys and then it listens to you play that piece. There is also a Demo where you get to play along with a recording of your piece and just basically shows you where you have bad notes, mistakes and things. But the one part I would like you Developers to update a little is the Note-By Note thing. So, let’s say I download an exercise piece such as a Czerny. I play a couple of chords and they’re all correct. But somehow, the Note-By Note thing says one of the notes are wrong even thought they’re all correct. And also, it won’t move to the next note as long as you play the “correct note”. I like how the Note-By Note senses how your wrong, but sometimes it just doesn’t recognize what’s correct and what’s not, technically. So overall, I like this app, totally recommend it, but please improve the Note- By Note section. Thanks!
I am a violin teacher whose students are mostly kids just starts their music journey. My 6 yr old daughter has also learned with me for a year and now with a more senior teacher in preparatory school of a renowned conservatory. Even with the senior teacher the daily practice of my daughter could be a headache to me and my wife: kid easily gets bored and my wife, who is not a professional, can hardly point out the issues in her practice and persuade her to improve... It was until recently that my kid started to play some piano with SimplyPiano. I found she is so into that it than the violin and it makes me think if there is any violin app could help... I found two ones in the App Store. Another one is more focus on teaching (with its own tutorials) and we didn’t find much piece my daughter is practicing (though you can import sheets into it). Then we tried the Lian app and it works for her! We always use the test mode: it gives scores based on your performance on in-tune and rhythms, also it records so that you can review and it marks out the issues in your play. And it has metronome and tuner as well. The kid now has much stronger motivation to practice to seek for higher scores like play video games... And the mom needn’t debate with her any more and can do her own stuffs when the kid’s practicing. I can always check her records when I come home. I found the app is pretty robust to give scores and mark out mistakes. And the coverage of the music books is quite well: now my kid is practicing Suzuki and Sevcik with it. Only String Builder is missing. My beginner students are also starting to use it and so far they are happy! One complaint is the Suzuki in the app is the old version and they should update it. Also it would be excited to have midi accompaniment in it. Let’s see...
