Simple Secret Santa Generator

Chose this because it let me text, WhatsApp etc. rather than only using email addresses. The pairing was fine, but the UI was really confusing to participants. I was instantly bombarded with questions from people and didn’t know how to answer as I wasn’t sure. The wish list feature is also incredibly bad. It pulls up items that aren’t the requested gift at all. We ended up making a google doc with wish lists because we were concerned people would buy the wrong “suggested” item which had nothing to do with the typed text. The wish list also cuts off wish list item text after a number of characters so could not read the full thing. Then I could not copy-paste the wish list text from the app when trying to make my google doc.

I want to start off by saying my family has done secret santa since 2019 when a lot of my cousins and I were off to college. I downloaded this app back then and paid for the premium features which allowed the app to send the text messages revealing their person without any problem. However, this year it was super frustrating because after using this for 3 other Christmas seasons I was unpleasantly surprised to see that you have to manually send each text to the person. I am in charge of this, and it was very frustrating to see the link of who everyone got. I didn’t click on them but it was annoying to ensure every person got their own link. In the past the app sent these messages, why did this feature change after I paid for it and used it for 3 other years? I want to continue using this app next year because it has serviced us for now 4 secret santa’s but I don’t think i’ll use it next year if it doesn’t offer this key unique feature i required.

This is my second year of using this app. It’s a good app which makes it easy to match Secret Santas. However I use it for a group of old High School mates scattered all over the USA and Canada therefore an address field becomes very important to us. If you can add a field for mailing address wether or not people want to use it, then you’ll get a five star rating from me. Still a very good app though 👍🏾
