Here's what you need to do if you buy a vaporetto pass because the stupid app and its website are so unclear. After you buy a pass, you'll need to activate it. If you see qr code, it's activated but THAT'S NOT YOUR TICKET. Now, go to an actual ACTV kiosk and scan the code OR enter the PNR number at the top (or in the email they send you). Then you can print out your ticket that you'll use to tap at each fare gate. You can't use the app with qr code at the fare gate-- it will not work! Hope that helps someone else some time trying to figure out what the problem is.

We only had three days in Venice and this app saved us so much time! Instead of wasting hours each day waiting in line with thousands of other tourists to buy tickets (not to mention the difficulty of entertaining our two kids while in line :-), we used this app to buy our tickets to visit the amazing sites of Venice. No lines! We used it for museums and water buses and it worked perfectly for us. We’ll try it for the gondolas next! Bravo MyPass for helping us make every minute in Venice count!

I am trying to get a refund now because I wasted 30 minutes trying to get them to work and just had to buy new tickets.
