Reviews: What People Think About Chores, Rewards, and Allowance

I absolutely love this app! I’m a mother of four and it’s exhausting having to nag my teenagers to do their daily chores and hygiene tasks. Now I don’t have to! The responsibility is truly on them to either ignore the apps reminders or complete the task. And less nagging from me = happier home. They absolutely love the system-I even did some Level Up rewards where they could get free points after they earned so many! There’s really only two things I don’t like about the app. The first is if you set a mandatory daily task, it must be sent through even if the child chose not to do it. So if my teen decides they don’t want to clean the kitchen today, it will show up as a red notification telling them to complete it. They get annoyed by the red notification showing how many tasks aren’t done yet so I wish you could turn that off and ease their anxiety a bit. Second thing I don’t like is the display of daily tasks. It’s one big long list and can really feel overwhelming when you have the Zoomed text feature on your phone. It would be nice if it just had a square box showing the emojis and the kids could click on the emoji to see the task. It would also be nice if there were some pre-made tasks and rewards you could choose from a template. Other than that, I really love it. It’s our first week so I’m sure there’s more to love but it’s really been a lifesaver.

Love this app!!! We have tried so many systems for rewards and punishments with our kids, and this is the only thing that has worked. It’s free. It’s simple. It’s easily customizable. It’s shareable. And it works for multiple kids. It gives kids clear expectations and consequences. You have it wherever you go, so you can instantly add or take away points depending on behavior. Additionally, my husband and I can both access the account to add or subtract points; and we are notified when the other has awarded or removed points, so we are on the same page with parenting. We use it for chores, for positive reinforcement (of things like being kind or helpful or honest), for creating good habits (brushing teeth, being ready for the bus on time, for making your bed, etc), and for accountability (getting along with siblings or being respectful to parents/teachers/bus driver). You choose privileges that they really want to work toward earning and consequences that you know they want to avoid....and the nice thing is that you choose whatever you want and however many points it’s worth. I also appreciate that when you implement a privilege or consequence that has a time limit (like 1 hour of computer time), it automatically starts a timer when you award that privilege/penalty. Great app! Great tool!

Privilege Points is such an awesome and powerful app. Once you create your own custom list of chores (called "tasks") and rewards (called "privileges"), magic starts happening. We use it for earning 30-minute blocks of screen time--they don't get screen time unless they've earned it and when their 30 minutes are up, the screen goes off. Privilege Points has a built-in timer that alerts me on my phone and Apple Watch when time is up and I'm no longer The Bad Guy who turns off the screen--I just point to the timer. I'm not ashamed to say that my kids used to whine for screen time and sometimes pitch a fit when I turned it off, but now they ask me how many points they have and what they can do to earn them. They take out the trash and recycling, unload and load the dishwasher, feed the pets, clean their room, and even wipe down the toilet seat without complaining and melting down. They've become totally proactive about doing their chores! People ask me how I get my kids to help out so much and behave so well and I tell them to get Privilege Points and use it religiously.
About Chores, Rewards, and Allowance
Tame your household (your kids that is) with this easy-to-use chore chart and rewards system. Stop begging your kids to do their chores and let them beg you, instead, for the chance to earn points. Setup is easy: First define chores and behaviors that will earn either points or cash. Then add the privileges or rewards that motivate your kids - Video game time? A sleepover? Allowance money?
Chore charts and point systems have been around for a long time because they work. Privilege Points takes it to the next level by putting a chore chart and family organizer right in the palm of your hand. Easily keep track of who has completed daily or weekly chores, and keep your whole family in sync with timely notifications. Great for one kid, and a life saver for any more than that.
Privilege Points also grows with your family - younger kids respond well to points and rewards, but older kids with more freedom will want cash incentives and allowance. You decide what your kids need need when to start introducing them to money and having their own virtual cash account.
Add as many chores, tasks, good behaviors, privileges, and penalties as you need. Add all your kids. Invite as many adults to join your family as you'd like; parents, grandparents, sitters, and other caregivers can all participate.
Premium Features:
Personalized Lists - Customize each child's list of Chores, Privileges, and Penalties.
Point and Privilege Requests - Kids can request Points and Privileges from their own phones. Parents review, accept or deny those requests from their own phone.
Reminders - Turn on reminders for kids, parents, or both. Reminders can be configured separately for each child and for each Chore so you decide where and when reminders make sense.
Backdating - If you forgot to accept a Chore or account for Privileges the previous day, backdating helps keep things in order.
Flexible - Every family is different, and Privilege Points can adapt to your parenting style. You define the point values for all chores, the cost of each privilege, and the fine for every penalty. Privileges can be anything you want. Create privileges to limit screen time or set up privileges to convert points to cash to manage allowance.
Set Limits and Deadlines - Set a deadline if you want a chore to be done before some time of day. Set limits on how many times per day, week, or month a certain chore or privilege can be done.
Required and Optional Chores - Required Chores are assigned to one or more children and will always show up at the top of their task lists. Optional chores can be added that don't have a set schedule but can be done on an as-needed basis.
Timed Privileges and Penalties - A built in timer and alarm lets you effortlessly keep track of multiple kids, privileges, and penalties.
Always In Sync - All your data lives securely in the cloud, so all the phones and tablets in your family are in sync all the time. Install on as many devices as you'd like.
Child Lock - Lock Privilege Points in read-only mode on any device used by your children. Each device can be locked for a specific child, or as a shared device for multiple kids to use. They can see their Task Lists and their point totals, but they can't change anything.
Notifications - Mom and Dad will always be in sync with Privilege Points Notifications. Notifications are sent for each chore completed and for every privilege granted so everyone always knows who is doing what.
Activity History - A history of every point earned and every privilege granted keeps track of who did what when—invaluable for those times when there is any disagreement or confusion about what was completed or which privileges were awarded.
