This is THE BEST APP I’ve found for 1) refreshing on your formerly studied languages, and 2) learning a new language in the traditional, flashcard based method of learning. It has four levels, from basic to “proficient,” which is great for relearning languages studied for a long time. It has smartly tailored thematic word sets that you can visit whenever you like (and you can binge-refresh sets of 50 words, or go smaller per vocab batches). And, importantly, you can SKIP exercises if you already know the words!!! SO much better than Babbel or Duo Lingo if you already know the language you’re studying! Also, the home screen notifications with daily words show both the target language and your native language, so you can learn without even opening the app of busy days.
i love the idea so much, it saves you a lot of hassle by creating the flashcards of the words you look up on it's own. i also love how the word you're learning is pronounced very clearly each time you flip through the cards. the themed card sets are also very useful, the app is an amazing idea in general. however, i feel like the "out of energy" forced intervals are very annoying. i would much rather watch ads after each practice than have to wait hours until i can practice again. i can't really adjust my study schedule to the timings of the intervals. besides that, being able to organize imported vocabulary into more sets than just the "translations" set would also be really useful. when learning multiple languages, all the looked up words go into the "translations" set, and practicing words from multiple languages at once is really inconvenient. the emojis on the flashcards are kind of unnecessary too but it's not that bothersome.
This app is DIFFERENT it is FUN it is UNIQUE and the people leaving one star reviews are probably looking for just another boring language app where we learn useless phrases that we will never use and then give up on learning. I have *never* found any language learning app that i love more. I have *never* found any app this good for learning what *I* want to learn in a language not the rubbish words the app developer thinks are important *hard eye roll* This app literally couldn’t be more perfect. I guess this is how you know you have a great product because some people will be raving fans (me) and others will be unable to comprehend how awesome the product is (because it is not for them and they need to go back to the same old same old boring apps teaching useless information). I will be paying for this app with JOY because the developers are brave to try something new and give self-directed learners like myself what we actually need! The only improvement i want to see in this app is the option to enable pinyin while learning Chinese. As a beginner, I find pinyin extremely valuable for listening and learning faster. Much love y’all
