NewsBreak: Local News & Alerts

Overall this app has improved tenfold since their debut. From the daily updates and the more often than not glitching, they’ve really come a long way (and I’m actually editing a previously posted poor review, unbeknownst until I just was reminded when I saw the existing one when I went to leave a review). It would be nice to have a little more control over what posts your entire friend feed receives and which one’s it doesn’t- for example, if someone has 50 followers, they may just want a casual, less thought out post that they don’t necessarily want everyone of their followers to get a text notification for should they have text notifications for NewsBreak app enabled, like I presume many like myself, do). It would be nice to be able to curtail which posts they receive in their feed, so that, I can be more selective with what gets sent out to everyone, so like followers don’t read the first 7 posts your made and 5 of them are like random one off observations not worth the time it takes to click them, and stop reading your posts. To be able to only let them see the two you know were worth their time would be wonderful!

It's a useful app, I'm not saying it isn't. However, there are some really frustrating flaws. 1.Any time you comment a photo, the quality is dropped drastically. This means that for many photos, if there's text in them, it'll be pointless once it's smaller than a certain size. 2.It only allows you to attach one photo per comment. This is combined with the first issue makes it really frustrating when you're trying to show someone information. 3.You can't comment links. 4.If you swear in a comment, other people will not be able to see the comment. This in itself is flawed as it also blocks other words that aren't even swear words, and groups them together. 5.The notifications tab is unable to be sorted, which is frustrating as it has a limit to how many notifications are able to be on the tab at once. This leads to many being unseen. 6.Due to issue 5, you may rely on going through your own reactions to go check and see if people replied to them manually. This is an issue if you comment the same thing more than once on one post, as only one will show in the reactions tab. 7.Log in issues. I literally cannot access my account any other way than through my app directly. No way to change my password to see if that's an issue.

Hello I will take a minute to share my opinion of NewsBreak. One of the primary things I enjoy about this site is that they allow you to write you opinions on articles and stories. Most of the other news sites could care less about their readers opinion which is obvious if they don’t allow comments. Other news sites will allow you to comment if you subscribe to their rag. I personally do not like to be coerced into paying for subscriptions to sites that are not good to begin with. There are a few sites that post articles with a significant amount of misspelled words and grammar errors. You start to wonder who are these people writing the articles, do they not have spell check or they just don’t care about what they write. It makes me think that what ever they are trying to write about isn’t reliable. So far NewsBreak meets all the criteria and seems to do a through job at reporting the significant events all around the world. Great Job
