Decibel - Accurate dB Meter

So many offerings for these dB meters are for crap. I wrote the following for the other apps: “Literally when your measurement reads 75 dB on this app, indicating a “potential hazard,” while in a quiet gentle breeze that I can fall asleep to, there is something seriously wrong with this app. It is by far the norm with these free dB meter apps, which leads me to think that access to your phone is the objective and not really to provide you with even a semi-accurate reading. I WOULDNT BOTHER DOWNLOADING IT! 😡” THIS APP, HOWEVER, had the reading at an avg of 45 dB in the gentle breeze. So which one would I rely on more to be somewhat accurate? This one. BTW - using an iPhone 7 & iOS 13.6.1.

I tested this app in a controlled environment and compared it to two other dB meters that I have. I found it to be the most accurate of the three. I know it seems too sensitive to some people but areas in your home are often much more noisy than you think they are. It’s all relative. When you are used to a noisy environment and you go to a less noisy area it may seem quiet, but it isn’t really. What would help is if the response could be dampened a little and I would like a needle display better, but overall this app is quite good.

This app is extremely microphone sensitive. When I opened it the decibel meter was reaching a yellow color near the top, and keep in mind I was laying in bed a 2:12 AM because I couldn’t sleep so it was completely silent in the room. I set my phone down on my bedside table and now the decibel meter was jumping between the 30-40 range. I wasn’t moving at all and couldn’t even hear myself breath. The only noise in the room was my little brother sleeping and breathing kinda loud, but I knew it wasn’t loud enough or close enough to set the meter off as he was like nearly 10 feet away. I don’t like talking bad about things because it usually means less sales for the creator if people decide to listen to this but I mean this app kinda has it coming from how sensitive it was.
