Pinyin Academy - Learn Chinese

The first recommendation as a learning simple Chinese student would be to allow the user to change the tone of the speaker. As I am a man with a relatively deep voice, trying to copy sounds of a young girl with a high-pitched voice, my first challenge is changing the the tone from a young girl to my deeper voice. Then I must copy sounds perfectly, but since the tone needs to be converted first, the challenge of repeating, the sounds accurately is made more difficult. Additionally, when you bring up the vowels to learn, there is a lot of Mandarin speaking before listening to the valves, which makes no sense, as I am just learning a simple vowel, and all of the additional speaking is not understood and unnecessary. This is not being taught to a Chinese teacher teaching Chinese to a new learner, but it is a program that should be geared for an absolute beginner. We are less is more. As I move through the program, I may offer more insight, but these two points are absolutely needed to be changed with the tone being able to be changed from a high pitch to a low pitch or a woman’s voice to a man’s voice, just as Siri allows on an iPhone. Secondly, eliminate all of the spoken Mandarin when you bring up the vowels or lessons as a beginner has no idea what is being said, and it is just confusing.
