BMW Connected

I don’t really write reviews but I do really enjoy the BMW Connected app. I like being able to check where the car is at I’ve gone on a few long trips and it’s been nice being able to check and make sure the car is still parked where you left it. I also use the locking and unlocking feature if I forget my key and I’m just trying to get something out of the car or making sure I locked it if I’m already inside or far away for the key not to register. I do send places to the Connected app and the navigation is already loaded and it helps reduce trip time talking or typing it into the car. I don’t really check my efficiency stuff on the app unless I’m on long road trips. I also use the ventilation feature to cool and heat the car if I remember. I don’t really follow a schedule so I don’t have times planned in the car. It’s also nice being able to check service dates and messages in the app because sometimes I can’t figure it out in the car. I hope BMW releases the My BMW app in North America soon because I think that’s a redesign most people here are looking for. The only downside for me is that on the app sending things to the car can be a little slow and it doesn’t update on the app as quickly as it sends it to the car. I’ve never had any problems using the app or digital key either and it’s nice having those features available in your hand all the time.

This is a great app; however, it often jams and does not correct itself unless the app is deleted and re-loaded to ur device. I like this app for the information it provides when i am away from the vehicle. The 3D surround view is awesome but it frequently jams or gets stuck. When that happens you cannot check on the vehicle using the 3D view again until you are back inside the vehicle, which defeats the purpose of viewing ur vehicle surroundings when you are away from ur vehicle for days. I am hopeful this glitch will be corrected. Aside from this, I enjoy using the app so do recommend its use. Also recommend keeping the app locked with an individual and separate password that is Not the same as your device password. Lastly, when using the 3D surround view, the side mirrors will unfold and there is no way to fold them back-in for the duration of ur awayness from the vehicle. For example, when I park at the airport for several days or a week or so, i will check on my vehicle using 3D view, the mirrors that were folded in when i left are now folded out. Parking spaces are close and consumers have luggage and kids they are loading in and out of their vehicles. If the mirrors are unfolded outwards, rhis presents an increased risk do vehicle damage to YOUR car. Anyway, I remain hopeful these provlems will be corrected to make this app a much more stable and enjoyable experience. Get the app but it wisely.

We just purchased an i3 an we’re excited to have this app/feature as we use a very similar service often in our other (non-BMW) vehicle. Car was purchased on 4/27 and I used the destination feature on 4/29 and was able to lock the doors. It has literally failed EVERY SINGLE command that it has been requested since that day. At first I chalked it up to user error and didn’t think much of the problem. At least I was able to see the somewhat updated mileage/battery with the car; something that is SUPER important with an electrical vehicle, so it wasn’t a big deal. Then my mother-in-law got stuck trying to charge the car, with the “Low Cost” charging feature enabled that kept the car from immediately charging. I thought, cool, no biggie, I can swap that from the app! WRONG! It’s a feature I the app, but that doesn’t work either. This caused me to drive 25 miles to my mother-in-law to swap the settings in the car, in part because the helpfulness (or lack of) of this app failing. Now all of a sudden without changing anything, it no longer shows the car in the app and request that “Add Vehicle” in order to get the best experience. However, just like every other upset soul on here, it gives an error when I try to RE-Add my vehicle to the app. So, now after all of that, I can’t use the app for ANYTHING at all. C’mon.
