French Dictionary & Thesaurus

This is a good go to app if you are looking for words you don’t know. It has good explanations on different meanings and different uses. It also has verb conjugations which I find very helpful. But the biggest short coming of this app is that many frequently used verbs are not in this dictionary. For example: s’assoir (to sit down) is not here. Pretty much every day I encounter a verb I could not find here. So to improve this app, please have the complete set of frequently used verbs added to this app.

Great app! It has everything needed including English translations for the words and conjugation charts for verbs! The translations are simple and easy to understand too! Plus the app is free, which is really amazing considering all the useful things you can find in the app!

This is the best of the many monolingual French-French dictionaries that I’ve tried. It combines a number of dictionaries, including very recent ones and one from the 18th century, so it’s suitable not just for daily use, but for reading classic French literature. Plus, you get a greater diversity of examples. You can use it off-line, too, so it’s great if you’re on a plane (or stuck in the Métro, like I am right now!). Highly recommended!
