I think this is a super lovely app that explains everything very well for what it is. my only suggestion would be to make it where the other terms in the explanation that are complex enough to be in the definition are clickable and transfer you to them, simply so it takes less time, but i think it’s a wonderful and incredibly useful app.
I purchased this app to assist my high schooler with learning differences. She has terrible working memory and asking her to go back and find a forgotten term in the book can completely derail her ability to stay on task during more challenging assignments. This is the perfect solution. She is able to quickly look up a term and move on with the work at hand. Obviously if the issue is understanding instead of memory, she still has to crack open the text to get a full explanation of a term, but this is perfect for jogging her memory.
I recently downloaded this app and purchased its ad-free version. The level of definition varies greatly in depth from term to term. Some definitions dive deeply, and prove very educationally informative. Others just scratch the surface, offering little more than the person looking up the word would already know. Upon first purchasing this app, I ran a little test to see how it would do. After requesting terms of increasing scientific speciality— but not words so esoteric that they would be used by only a select few — I reached the bottom… no definition available for the requested term. I’d say that the app is somewhat useful, and shows great potential, but as a comprehensive stand-alone scientific dictionary, it’s not there, yet. I would hope the developers keep working on the app, moving it toward a more fulfilling realization of the promise it sometimes shows.
