Manikin

I can tell this was made by people who were passionate about the art of posing models. Immediately upon use it felt more natural to move the model when compared to every other app I’ve tried, the poses always come out looking comfortable and natural, it definitely helps I was experienced with anatomy beforehand but it really has helped make the poses look like I’m more breaking a limb or two. The combination of editing axis’s to position limbs with a slider or just dragging them makes it very user friendly. My only complaint is based off a weird nitpick that only comes from me which is I prefer head model shapes that give me a better idea of how I position the head. Overall the way I’m able to make poses look natural and comfortable has helped me on my journey to add to my characters personalities when I draw their poses, which as silly as it may sound, is exponentially more helpful than most other methods of making my characters feel individual. So thank you, for creating this wonderful app, and if others are just looking for reviews to find a good model posing app, just give this one a shot, 10/10.

I paid for the full version and I definitely don't regret it! I use DesignDoll on my PC, and this is the closest app I could find that gives me a similar feel. The level of customization isn't quite there yet, but for a team only working on this part time, I absolutely don't blame them for it. It does what I need it to do, and I especially love the animation library and hand poser. My ONLY gripe with this app is the camera movement. For me, it's not very intuitive at all, and even after a few months I'm still struggling to maneuver efficiently, particularly due to the lack of a proper pan+rotate control mode. I don't know if it actually exists and I just can't figure out how to do it, but it makes it really hard to establish the kind of perspective I sometimes want to view my models from, especially if I'm trying to build a scene. I'm aware I can unlock the camera to be able to pan it, but what I'd really like is to be able to both pan AND rotate within the same camera mode— one finger drag to rotate around the current selected object, two finger drag to pan, pinch to zoom, with maybe just a button in the UI to recenter the view on the selected model if you get lost. As for suggestions, I think it would be really cool if it were possible to implement model collision, to prevent you from phasing one model through the other, which might help a lot with complicated multi-model setups. If it's not feasible, I totally understand though :)

I love this app! I am still getting used to everything and it’s a bit difficult to form the manikin into positions, but I can guarantee that’s all on me, not the app, and once I get more used to it I think I will love it even more! I really love that you can also change lighting, and all the features are so cool and useful and I think it’s incredible! Definitely one of the best art apps I have ever seen, and getting used to forming the manikin will totally be worth it! I do however have one suggestion: I LOVE that you can click on individual joints and adjust them, and so I was thinking that it might be a bit nicer if there was a forth adjustment to change the width of the limb, and a fifth for the length, just so that on each piece we can move it into any body shape we want and make some shorter, some taller, some a little more hour glass or pear shaped, whatever! With that added, I think the app would be PERFECT! As it is now, I love it, and so I’m not disappointed at all, but if the body shape could be adjusted, and not just different options but so the app users can change it (because everyone’s body shape is at least subtly different). Besides that I can’t think of anything to make this awesome app better! And if that feature isn’t added that’s fine too, I can try to change the shape in my head although I’m not the best artist so I’d like the feature if possible 😛
