Reviews: What People Think About Brute Force WOD

BLUF: The leaderboard, SandWOD, Challenges and Calendar parts of this app work well. Nice not clunky demos of exercises in the WODs (except hollow rocks—don’t be lazy and update that demo). The timer is garbage: auto start; stop the timer the prompt for completing the workout comes up; select yes or the timer starts again; go to submit the score and you have to cancel out to get back to the WOD. Due to this, I write out the WOD on my gym whiteboard and use my Interval Timer app/iPhone stopwatch/timer for the WOD. Not a big problem, more annoying than anything else.
I’d like to see some improvements to the community/social networking aspects of the app. While a button exists to share your WOD score on FB; it’s more for show.
All that said, this is still a highly effective app for incentivizing functional fitness at your own pace. I routinely use it and endorse its use by my clients.

I use this app almost every day and like how it is set up pretty much across the board. It’s easy to see the sandwod (workout), leaderboards and your workout history for reference. Everything about the app is really easy to use except the timer, which I find cumbersome and frustrating.
I wish it had its own section just like the “sandwod” or “leaderboard” page and could be formatted for a timer, countdown timer or a Tabata clock that you could set your own work and rest time on. This would give me the flexibility to make changes to workouts to work around injuries and still have a record of my work. It’d be nice to use the timer with my own music playing in the background and still have alerts play over my music.
Everything else about the app earns 5 stars but that timer knocks it down 1 for me.

My husband and I use this app daily and as far as the workouts and tracking ability it works well. My biggest complaint with it is the timer.
1) why does the timer start randomly when I’m just trying to look at the workout? If I look at it once then go out then come back to it, the timer automatically starts and I have to go they Thai whole abort workout process to start it over. Timer should not start until I hit the button for it to start
2) can you ad some functionality into the timer??? AMRAP/TABATA/EMOM with cues and hat fit the workouts. I spend a lot of time going to an external app for the appropriate timer function and then have to come back to brute force app and just let the timer run to enter the correct score. If you exit the Bf app it stops the timer which means you can’t listen to music or use outside timers.
Fix those two issues and you get 5 stars for sure
