The app update has destroyed much of the iKips device functionality. I purchased two 64gb versions in 2015 and was very satisfied with the device and the companion iOS app. It worked for backing up photos and video from my iPhone and iPad on the fly which is why I got it. Recently after updating the iOs app, I discovered the the “improved” UI was not only less user friendly, but when trying to back up any files, I received the message: “Caution Please connect your iKlips” despite the fact that it WAS connected. After trying everything from reconnecting the drive to my phone to deleting and reinstalling the app, this was still the case. By selecting “All Files", it allows you to copy a file to the App Storage within the app which for me and I suspect many others, is completely useless since the idea is to back up the data to an external device, allowing one to free up space on the phone. Additionally, the only online tutorial Adam Elements has shows the app UI prior to this awful update. Finally, I emailed Adam Elements outlining the issues and to date heven't received a response. Avoid this like the plague. There are now a number of other companies producing iOS flash drives and hopefully at least one makes an app that works.
I just updated this app version 4.0.4 sence that it don’t work at all on my iPhoneX !! I can’t see or transfer pictures or videos it says that needs to be connected will it is connected to my iPhone I’m stock now with a none working product I also lost all my pictures n videos that I had beacause it’s not working properly I try to contact the company but never had a answer back....
I really wanted to like this app. I had a lot of faith. They are the only (seemingly) American-based external storage solutions so I thought I could trust them. For starters, when I try to download files from the iKlips to my iphone/iPad, even when I select multiple files, it only downloads 4 files at a time. Bummer. Moreover, when I've loaded videos from my computer to iKlips, the file plays back choppy--pausing every 15-20 secs to load. Hope no one is using this to watch movies on a plane, let's say! I've reached out to support about both of these issues. NADA. Finally, recording videos within this app results in very unstable video footage, compared to other apps Ive used where it retains iphone's ability to auto-stabilize. Alternative to this, there are devices like the Trail Cam card reader. It behaves the same way except you can use any SD cards you may have already. That device is $17. Hope this helps someone!
