The best Hurricane app out there!

Edit: I signed up for the Premium account this season as it looked like it would be a good investment. Currently, I’m in the midst of TS ETA, and the premium content hasn’t been available for days! The main app is solid, but the premium content seems to be lacking dependable updates at this time. I have been using this app for years, and it is my ‘go-to’ source for information anytime something is brewing in the Atlantic, Gulf or Caribbean. No more do I have to jump from one source or website to another, everything I need can be found right here! I also just discovered that they have a Premium subscription with more precise storm details and graphics. This adds a whole other dimension this app with very useful information for those who may be impacted by an impending storm. Overall, this is just a fantastic app which has continued developer support and enhancements. You can’t go wrong with this one!

Save Image

Loved this app & it was so very helpful last year during hurricane season (I live in Florida). TS Arthur is now out there so checked the app for the first time this season. They have taken away the ability to save images/gifs which I do all the time & used to be able to do. The saddest part about the whole thing is the images are not even theirs to protect as they belong to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). I can go right now to the NHC website & save the exact same images from there as they permit saving. I just liked using the app. I upgraded my iPhone from an 8 to an iPhone 11 Pro shortly after it came out & it seems maybe that’s when things changed & the ability to save images was removed. I wanted to send an email to the App owner/developer to let them know as maybe this was inadvertent (& maybe it has something to do with the new iPhone) but there’s no way to contact them (other than twitter which I don’t know how to do) so my only option is to leave this review. PLEASE FIX THE ABILITY TO SAVE IMAGES If that is done, I will immediately come back & update this review. Until then I will no longer be using this app and will be getting my TS/hurricane information from the NHC which of course is FREE!!

Good overall - a lot of data

The app has a lot of good data however I think it could use some improvements. Here are some suggestions from a life long Florida resident. Add the category of the storm to the hurricane icon. For example: where you list the storms, show the number. This is my biggest issue with the app. Especially as storms approach land, they can upgrade or downgrade at a moments notice. I want to be able to check in the wee hours of the night and right away see what category the storm is. It’s really hard to find that info in this app. You have to either read a big document and try and weed through all the meteorology jargon to find it. Add a tracking graph that the user can move a stark back in time or forward in time based on the most projected path. Kittycode’s hurricane tracker app had this and I loved it. It even changed the category label as the storm was expected to downgrade as it moved over land. Download kittycode hurricane tracker and look at some historical storms. You’ll be able to see how this feature works. Unfortunately the kittycode app retired after last season and I found this app instead. Overall, it’s still a very good app and has a ton of info. The spaghetti models section is actually better than the other app, but some user experience misses make it less than 5 stars for me.
