I’ve noticed some things that could be worked on with the app and an issue with the fan or the app (I don’t know where the issue stems from). First the app, it never allows me to “enable Hunter account” for my smart fan. It always says there’s an error and the device isn’t reachable even though the fan is on and able to be controlled remotely. Another thing is that while having the ability to toggle light dimming on and off is great, especially if you put bulbs like Philips Hue bulbs in your fan like what I do, I’ve realized that there should also be an option to disable app/smart device control of the lights on the fan in general. That way it simplifies the process to me only having to control my Hue bulbs rather than always having to specify which lights I’m trying to control when using Siri. (ie Hey Siri, turn my lights off ((turns the power to the lights in the fan off, rendering the Hue bulbs useless which I don’t want happening)) to stop that from happening I have to specify to Siri to turn the Hue lights off which isn’t a big deal but it’s not ideal). Now the issue I can’t figure out is that my fan will turn the lights off (if they’re on) and slow the fan speed down to 25% all by itself (if the fan is already on) OR it keeps the lights off (if already off) but turns the fan on to 25% (when it’s off). I don’t tell it to do that, I don’t have an automation or scene that causes this to happen, no one touches the remote when it happens, the fan does it on its own. I’d like for that to get fixed if it’s an issue with the app or maybe a firmware update to fix the issue if it’s a problem with the fan itself. If these little quality of life adjustments could get worked on this app would be great! Sorry for the long read 😅
Same comments/experience as basically all the other recent reviews. The fan won’t stay connected to the app/wi-if so long than a day. Every time it disconnects you need to delete the device and reinstall, works for a few hours, maybe even a day, then goes into “offline”. I’ve tried to have customer support help, but no real info or solution is offered up. Now that I have read all these reviews I see I’m not alone. I wish I would’ve known this before buying the fan, as the “smart” feature was the whole reason for buying the fan. Stay away from Hunter is you are buying it for any of its smart features. I have dozens of other smart devices in my home, this is the only one with connectivity issues. It’s frustrating that such a large company can put out such a buggy product and still hasn’t done anything to fix it. Buyer beware!!!
Previously the app was working well with Alexa integration. Lights worked on/off and setting different dim levels. Fans worked on/off and setting different speeds. Suddenly this is no longer the case. With the most current version of iOS, hunter app, and Alexa app (and hunter skill) fans will no longer turn off via Alexa command. Alexa gives the success tone and the “switch” is off in the Alexa app, however the fan is still on. Looking in the hunter app it also shows as on still. Turning the fan “on” via Alexa after this simply registers the switch as on within the app but physically does nothing. Setting different speeds works fine so the fans are connected. Turning the dan off in the hunter fan app and then using Alexa to turn the fan back on works fine. This tells me this is a hunter app issue in some recent update where it doesn’t recognize “off” when using Alexa. You have to manually turn it off. As an additional note when registered as off in the Alexa app (even the the fan is still on) it seems it never actually shifts the speed to 0% keeping it at whatever level it was on when Alexa registers it as on. That may be the problem. None the less they seem to have broken some communication in one of the recent updates.
