Hero of Flag - World Flags

This app is a lot of fun and you definitely learn the flags in an enjoyable slightly competitive setting (with the stopwatch feature) but there are few big flaws which make it less enjoyable than it could be. One is that with each incorrect question answered, you do not learn what the correct answer was. This causes a lot of guessing over a series of tries rather than actual learning and comprehension. Secondly, the colorful answer boxes create confusion and actually slow the quiz takers response time as the eye almost always goes directly to the bright colors first which is an unnecessary distraction especially with the short 7-second allotted answer time. Each box should ideally be the same color and something close to black, white or gray so that the only connection needing to be considered is word to image. The bright boxes aren’t necessary and dilute the learning process. Finally, though the stop watch feature makes question answering more of a thrill, it is far too short for beginner users trying to learn which means they are less likely to persevere to higher levels. The allotted time for answering should be longer in the first levels and grow progressively shorter as the user advances. Another desirable feature would be a timed game where you can race your own time rather than an arbitrary set amount!

Who new geography (education) could be so fun! I've learned a lot even though the first level is pretty easy, it gets harder and harder. The repetition makes you understand and it gets it into your brain! It's super fun and anyone who hopes to get better at geography should play this game.

This app does give some ways for one to learn the flags of the world, but the app is not optimized for good learning. The flags appear in a set order, making it easy to memorize based on order instead of actually learning to identify the flags. Then the only mode to test one's self on the flags is to choose from a list of 4, where it is usually easy to identify the correct flag based on regional similarity of flags. Also the app does not record or use which flags you consistently get correct, to test you more on those you find challenging. So overall it seems the design of the app is very simplistic which results in weaker learning gains. The thing that frustrates me the most is that when you get a flag wrong or run out of time, it doesn't to tell you what the answer was, again resulting in less efficient learning. I am probably going to find a better app to learn the flags of the world.
