Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells

Edit: I had originally given two stars because of changes that were made, but they took feedback and reinstituted watch buttons. The creatures didn’t go back, but the puzzles don’t feel as hard anymore. Really pleased because I do love this game! Original post: For the last several years this was my favorite game on my phone. I worked hard to get my favorite creature to the top level, and have thoroughly enjoyed the different spells that come from moving forward in the game. Progress was always slow and there were plenty of challenging puzzles that took a while to beat, but they were worth it because you also won regularly enough to stay determined. The recent changes to the game have ruined all that. They demoted the creature powers I worked hard to obtain, and it’s so difficult to pass any level on the first attempt now. And since you no longer get gold unless you win, you can be stuck on a puzzle for what feels like forever. They also did away with “watch” buttons that would let you add an extra few moves by watching an ad, and I’ve actually downloaded other games because of those ads. It seems like all these decisions were made to make people frustrated enough that they’ll spend money to advance. It's really disappointing that I might abandon the game soon after a lot of fun the last few years.

I love this game. I’ve been playing it for years and it’s by far my favorite. I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, and this game has plenty of fun elements from the movies, along with Fantastic Beasts. Good graphics too. The developers have taken comments into consideration and made so many improvements over time, all making the game even more enjoyable. I love the random option to watch adds for 3 more moves. I love the daily puzzles and events that give opportunities to win gifts. I do think the maze is nearly impossible to win chests. I wish each dot on the course didn’t have to be repeated multiple times. I’d prefer more stops before reaching creatures than playing the same puzzle over and over. However, the map is cool and I like playing it. I also like that the earned pts remain available and continue to accumulate each time it comes back around. I also agree with others that it would be nice to boot team members over time if they haven’t played in over a month or so. I’m the only member of my team who plays. I know I can change teams. It’s not a huge deal but would be nice to make space for newcomers. Regardless, I love this game. Thank you to developers for listening to feedback and making improvements. First I have to say I absolutely love this game! It’s challenging and creative and the graphics are phenomenal. But here comes the sad reality of this game and why I finally had to review it and only give 3 stars…lately all I do is shell out A LOT of money to play with nothing in return. There are no more magical creatures yet I still earn stars for them. Give me coin instead. Stop being so greedy! You can barley play multiple games without having to shell out money to finish every single time. Maybe I finish one in every 20 without having to pay to finish. And it gets frustrating because at my level I shouldn’t have to be doing that. It’s also shady when you have spent a lot of coin to try and finish a game yet that one lightning bolt or color gem you need to win is suddenly moved out of place. Its becoming less and less “fun” and more like a bad habit I need an intervention for. But the pranks are the absolute worst! I can’t stand them. Please please please don’t bring them back. Ever! I’d love to give you more stars and I feel 3 is being generous and that’s is because it is a great game. And I understand the monetary aspect of these, I don’t have my head in the sand about that. At all! But when you have to spend over $50 to finish a game or 2 EVERY DAY that’s taking it to far. As with most of Zynga’s games I’ve played I’m finding greed is eventually outweighing the fun and I have to stop playing them all together.
