Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells

I find it being hard to move on from puzzle game to the next. Not without spending a bunch of money to buy gold coins to get you more moves. Then they offer you a summer pass. To purchase then you end up spending more money to move forward with the puzzle. These companies are out to make money nothing is free. When you join a club no one is helping you get through these difficult times if you don’t play every day you will get demoted from your position and when I went to Malaysia (Sabah). WiFi is hard to get unless your in the shopping mall and you ask the retailer of the phone company for the WiFi service they will type it in for you. However then you have to hang around until you are finished playing the game this is time consuming I’m on vacation I don’t want to spend my time in the shopping center it’s about exploring not being tied down to my phone my phone service is T-Mobile. However I spent a bunch of money for international calling and data. If you play the game you will use up most of your data within a week then they will tell you that you used 80% of your data and then they will start to slow it down as it gets closer to your goal. I already spent a bunch of money on this game I don’t want to lose my spot I played another game called mafia war’s for 6-7 years when the game decided to shut it down after gaining 1500 friends to give gifts to get to the level I was at. NOW it’s all gone. Now the company is still in business with different games. I don’t wanna spend a bunch of money and then realize they’re gonna shut the game down. LIFE IN THE BIG CITY.

This game is incredibly fun and addicting. Being a Harry Potter fan, I can’t not play it. But I’m here to point out pros and cons. The pros are the tiers you unlock after achieving a certain goal, the additional boosters that emerge at the start of every puzzle, and the teams you get to join for more lives in case you run out. I also love the boosters provided by the creatures you unlock after collecting all the cards. Now for the downside…. Daily puzzles used to come with a limited time of free play. Now they only award you XP. I loved baking and getting the one hr unlimited lives, too, but I’m not sure if that’s been omitted or if it’s now only on a certain day. The most frustrating part of the game is how the commercials are offered for an additional 3 moves. I’ve noticed when I have a dozen goals left to complete, the commercial appears. But when I have less than 3 goals left to finish, the commercial NEVER shows and it happens every time this way. It’s so frustrating. I won’t be able to complete 12 goals with only 3 moves. Also, when Hagrid provides the lightning sparks that emerge from his umbrella, they seem to land on random spots rather than the target area. Same when I combine the bomb with the winged keys. As opposed to the combo targeting a group of plants, for example, it targets ONE plant in a corner and then taps two plants out of the group. These are just a few examples of what steal the thunder of the game. It wasn’t this frustrating when I first started playing. I won’t quit playing, though, bc it is a fun game.

Edit: I had originally given two stars because of changes that were made, but they took feedback and reinstituted watch buttons. The creatures didn’t go back, but the puzzles don’t feel as hard anymore. Really pleased because I do love this game! Original post: For the last several years this was my favorite game on my phone. I worked hard to get my favorite creature to the top level, and have thoroughly enjoyed the different spells that come from moving forward in the game. Progress was always slow and there were plenty of challenging puzzles that took a while to beat, but they were worth it because you also won regularly enough to stay determined. The recent changes to the game have ruined all that. They demoted the creature powers I worked hard to obtain, and it’s so difficult to pass any level on the first attempt now. And since you no longer get gold unless you win, you can be stuck on a puzzle for what feels like forever. They also did away with “watch” buttons that would let you add an extra few moves by watching an ad, and I’ve actually downloaded other games because of those ads. It seems like all these decisions were made to make people frustrated enough that they’ll spend money to advance. It's really disappointing that I might abandon the game soon after a lot of fun the last few years.
