GSO Collects

This app makes it really easy for me to check and see which things are being picked up (trash and recycling, or just trash, etc) and on what days. It also makes it really easy to get in contact with them if I have any questions. And they’ve made it really fun to learn about our collection system with bit sized info and mini quizzes.

First off let me say that up until this last design change the GSO collects app was probably the most reliable app on my phone when it came to notifications. Now in the current version of the app, even though I have notifications on set for 12 hours in advance of the weekly garbage collection, it won’t notify me at all. Not to mention I can no longer set a truly custom reminder, because I used to have the notification set earlier in the day, so it’d at least be in my mind. If you care anything about the citizens of Greensboro using this app you need to at least make sure the basic functions of this app are working, instead of adding games and trivia.

The City of Greensboro is excellent in all city services. The trash and recycling pickup is outstanding. Those driving the trucks are careful with the pickup of container and depositing them back on the pavement. A couple of months ago a trash truck had a problem and required a service call. I was thankful to be able to commend the driver for the excellent service. Within 20 minutes a service person arrived and had the truck functioning.
