Ground School

I’m very pleased with The Finer Points experience. I did traditional ground school and used this app to supplement my study. I just took my PAR and aced it and I attribute my success in large part to this app. Simply put, the best feature of this app is the “Learn more” button on every question, even on practice exams during review. For those questions you missed, it gives an explanation about the correct answer and is usually backed up with references. This combined with the spaced repetition review gives the user a solid foundation on aviation principles. On the topic of practice exams, a significant advantage of this app is the ability to review previous exams, which again gives you a better understanding via the aforementioned “Learn more” button. I know the Prepware app for the PAR doesn’t do this. The ability to save old exams makes it easier to review questions and form a study plan around those you missed. I would highly recommend this app. My only hope is the recently released instrument course is as comprehensive and easy to use as the private was.

The Finer Points ground school app was instrumental in my primary flight training and continues to be a very useful resource, even after obtaining my certificate. I felt confident and prepared for the written test as the practice tests were very much on point. The flying lessons really hammered home the key skills needed to perfect the maneuvers required by the ACS. Jason style of teaching is top notch and engaging. The only regret that I have is not using the Oral Test Simulator prior to my checkride. I really wish I had done so as I struggled through the oral part of the checkride. I had to discontinue after completing the oral due to not having proper maintence logs, and I rescheduled the flight portion for the following week. I took that week to go through the Oral Test Simulator in case the DPE had any follow up questions during the flight portion. Although the DPE didn't end up asking too much during the flight portion. I can tell you post-checkride, that the oral test simulator would have helped a ton. Can’t wait for the instrument ground school to be released!

If you are learning to fly this is absolutely your do not miss app. It will make your learning quicker and better. It is for US FAA but what is taught in here is valid everywhere. Moreover it will prevent you to fall into one of those loops that if you don’t catch it and correct fast enough it will make sure it will be serving you pain later on your journey. And if you are already a pilot you know you will never stop studying never stop learning, ever. This is the app to have and spend some hours every week. Refresh a concept. Address an issue. It will help you staying ahead and make sure you don’t miss or forget things learnt. PS Can’t wait for the instrument course part release.
