Grand Gin Rummy 2: Card Game

I love this app and hate it at the same time. It’s truly Las Vegas. First they reduced payouts and reduced free chips. Second, the app purposely makes you lose. I recently tracked my gaming after buying $40 worth of gems/chips. I am a good gin player and in real life, I usually win. On this app, the house stacks it against you, especially if you buy chips. They want you to lose to buy more. In 20 consecutive rounds, I wasn’t given one single meld. Meanwhile, my opponents went down with gin after one or two cards selected. This is intentional to make me lose. If i don’t play for a few days, the game gives me a win, followed by 3-4 losses. My winning percentage says 51%, but that is inaccurate. They set you up to win one, lose 4 or more. If you bet a lot of chips, you’re doomed to lose them. If this app doesn’t improve soon, I’m deleting it for good and looking for another. Make it fair please! I have sat next to my son playing with him and seeing his hands and it’s laughable. He never plays and isn’t a good gin player and his hands are guaranteed to give him a big gin or wipe me out immediately. I mean every single card he draws does into his hand. This isn’t luck. It’s computer generated intentional winning to make a loyal player lose.

I have enjoyed this game for a long time. The algorithm is bad, but overall this is the best gin rummy app out there in my opinion. I have really had fun playing. But lately there have been issues. The algorithm, which wasn’t the best in the first place went to total garbage. I have to play in these cycles it seems. If I get in and lose three games in a row, I just go ahead and log off. If I have a mix of winning and losing I do pretty good. If I lose at least three in a row I know there isn’t any use in my trying to win. I can spend 50k chips and never win a game. I don’t know how this works exactly, but it seems to go in cycles like that. So if I want to keep the chips I have I just have to stop playing when it is like that. I can come back the next day or even in a few hours and it will be ok then. It is very strange, but I still like to play. It is challenging working up through the ranks and being promoted to the next league level, and the game just had some serious issues that prevented the app from even loading so for over a week I couldn’t even load the app. Customer service said the app would be updated soon so I waited and was able to load my app today. To my utter disappointment, I had been demoted in league, through no fault of my own, and there was no gift of compensation, no small token of thanks for coming back after the app didn’t function for over a week, NOTHING!! It is very disappointing and I pretty much feel like the developers couldn’t care less if anyone plays the game, or is loyal to them at all. So what would have been a very high 4 star or a low 5 has become a hard given 3 star rating. Thinking about uninstalling and just giving up on this app completely.

Ok, so I’ve gone back to this game off and on over the last few years. When it comes to design and ease of use, this game is my favorite. It’s simple, but elegant looking and doesn’t bombard you with ads, which is great! HOWEVER, after playing a while, it becomes quite obvious that you really can’t get anywhere without making purchases. The amount of coins you get back for a win is way too low, not even half of what you put in to play, so one loss can be devastating to your total amount. Also after some time it just feels like the odds are stacked against you. When game after game, your opponents are able to knock or even gin after just a couple cards being played leaving you no chance at all, it just doesn’t feel worth playing. It’s either an issue of unrealistic shuffling and dispersing of cards or it’s rigged. Then there’s the leagues...they cap the amount of trophies you can get per level, so unless you play the higher costing tables you’re never going to make enough to rank high on the leaderboard, but then all it takes is one bad game on said high cost table and you’re done. No measly couple hundred coins every 4 hours is gonna help with that either. So yeah, I have a love hate feeling towards this game. Love the design and basic function but resent the low percentage of coins you win back after the low chance you actually win a game.
