Good but could be better

I’m a genuine enjoyer and player of this game for a few months now. I have bought the ad free version so I have experienced with both. If you don’t spend money on the game, it’s borderline unplayable. Even when you upgrade the cleaners and helpers to max using diamonds, they still cannot keep things stocked in a timely manner which ruins the game experience a little bit because there’s not a satisfying game loop. I also think the game moves too slowly for someone who does not want to spend money on the game to enjoy even without the ads. Getting enough of the outfit tokens may take months. It doesn’t feel satisfying at all to start in a new shelter because it is the same exact rooms with the same exact stats and the same exact workers with some slight variations. Some of the paths that the player has to walk are also crowded by obstacles and a little hard to walk without getting frustrated and accidentally throwing an item out or buying something you did not mean to. This could’ve been fixed by more rigorous play testing. I do overall enjoy the game but for these glaring issues, I had to give it three stars. Especially since this is my experience having spent over $10 on this game.

No new levels. No updates

I really enjoy this game and honestly had a lot of fun playing it. The concept is different and it’s relaxing to build and upgrade the shelter. However, I’ve run into a major issue that makes the game unplayable. I am currently on Shelter 2 and the game is telling me to “build a new room,” but the only available room requires Level 6. The problem is my XP bar is not increasing at all, no matter what I do. There are no available upgrades, tasks, or actions that give XP, so I’m completely stuck with no way to progress. I also noticed the developer responding to other reviews telling players to update the game, but there is no update available. So that solution doesn’t actually fix the issue. After checking reviews, I can see other players are experiencing the same problem where the game just stops progressing. I would really love to keep playing, but right now it feels like the game is unfinished or missing progression content. Please fix the leveling system or add more ways to gain XP so players can continue. Overall it’s a great game, but this issue definitely needs to be addressed.

Npcs aren’t helpful

Idle games with this style are never good quality so I didn’t go into this expecting a life changing game. There are a bunch of ads whatever expected it. The issue for me is the npcs. They are supposed to help automate your shelter so u don’t have to help just collect money. However in this game the npcs move to slow to help u do anything. I watched the ads expecting a difference but there wasn’t one. The cleaners clean and move too slow to leave 1 of the 2 rooms they are assigned to. Which has them soft locked slowly cleaning one room. Even the one in the cafe is slow for no reason because it only has one room to clean. The stockers are also slow they only carry 1 item to whatever their location is which usually requires wayy more than 1 thing. Basically they don’t move and do their job fast enough with the base upgrades the rooms with the ad upgrades are so much worse. The npcs need to be updated to be more efficient.

Disappointed that there’s only two shelters

This game is fun. Rewards come quickly and you are able to build and upgrade your shelter fast. I loved playing it. However there are only two shelters to the game. I spent 10 dollars to get rid of the ads because they were so frequent that it severely interrupted game play. Then I spent money to get the wheel thing for my guy to run around on so he could move faster. I feel like there should be a way to earn those types of upgrades in the game. I am highly disappointed that I spent money on this game because I really enjoyed playing it only to find out that there’s two shelters and I can’t go any further. Feels like a rip off.

The game of fun by London

Flop House is a surprisingly charming and enjoyable idle-management game that combines casual gameplay with a warm, uplifting concept. Instead of the usual hotel or restaurant tycoon setup, this game puts you in charge of a shelter, where you help people rebuild their lives by providing beds, food, and a clean, safe space. From the start, the game is easy to understand and rewarding to play. You begin with a small, run-down building and gradually expand it — adding bathrooms, kitchens, recreation areas, and more. Every upgrade feels meaningful, and it’s satisfying to watch your shelter grow busier and more efficient. The graphics are bright, colorful, and well-designed, giving the whole experience a friendly and optimistic tone. The characters are simple but expressive, and the animations make your shelter feel lively. The developers have clearly put effort into making the gameplay loop smooth and enjoyable — even when you’re offline, progress continues, so you can play at your own pace. While there are some ads, they’re often optional, and the game rewards you well for watching them. It’s a fair balance that helps keep the experience free to play. Overall, Flop House is a cozy and heartwarming idle game that stands out from the crowd. It’s about progress, care, and community — all wrapped up in a relaxing and addictive gameplay loop. Perfect for players who enjoy building, upgrading, and seeing the positive results of their efforts.
