The app is mostly blank or inactive screens, you have to pay $4.99 to get “the rest of the lessons”, which implies there’s some free ones but I don’t see anything. There isn’t really anything to try out so I wouldn’t classify it as “freemium” but rather just plain misleading. They should state the $4.99 up front instead of free with “in-app purchase”.

Chinese characters where written using a system, so they should be learned using a system. I have downloaded sooo many apps for learning the Chinese characters and it wasn't until this app that they finally started making sense to me. Now I'm finally remembering the meanings of the characters. I've been studying Chinese for about five years now, and I can finally say that all the Chinese characters don't look the same to me. The only thing I can think of to improve on this app is to make the pronunciation clearer and have it to play the pronunciation automatically, without having to press the button. Some people may not want it to play the sound automatically though so maybe that should be an option in the settings. Even without that though, this app is totally worth five stars!
