Ducati Connect

The app uses a wifi connection between your phone and the bike that needs to be restarted through multiple steps every time you turn off the bike, or get a phone call, or use another app, or just because it feels like it. Even after you get it running, and before it disconnects, there is only one choice for navigation (Sygic) and no streaming music. And again, if you get a call, poof disconnected so, dont. Texts? HahaHa. Also, you need to leave your phone unlocked and the app open, so it needs to be in the phone pocket with the usb plug or youll be dead battery land in :30. So, forget your phone and someone else will have your unlocked phone in their grubby hands. The only good thing this app has going for it is that it is so bad nobody will use it.

I’m extremely happy with my new V4s just as I’ve always been with any Ducati I’ve owned. When I ride I like to focus on the road and not be distracted with crap like phones, apps, and GPS devices. The Sygic app has frozen up on me 3 of the 4 times I’ve used it. Having to have my phone unlocked with two apps running seems pretty pointless to me. The display on the Multistrada V4s is absolutely beautiful but these apps basically make it useless. I know this is new software and hopefully it’ll get better in time but for now I’ll stick with my iPhone, Waze, and Garmin Zumo. None of those are perfect either but at least when I use them I don’t become so enraged that I contemplate riding my bike into a tree. This is too expensive of a bike to have to deal with things like this especially when cars that cost less than this bike have CarPlay. I don’t understand how Ducati could incorporate radar into this bike and not CarPlay. I was also disappointed to learn that I was sold a bike that had an engine replacement do to recall. It would have been nice to have been informed before I purchased. I would have waited.

The whole world understands Google maps and CarPlay. Ducati chose to go exclusively with Bosch, requiring a subscription for simple things like speed limits, in an extremely clunky set up over wifi that fails frequently unless you leave your ohone wide open, unlocked always. This is a massive hack, not to mention security risk, a super clunky solution and well beneath what anyone buying even a cheap car now a days would expect ... let alone on the top of the line touring bike from Ducati. Total #Fail Ducati. Disappointed. The only reason i gave it 2 stars not 1, is because if you fight with it enough, do all the stupid and insecure things it says to do, and do not stray off the path, it can work. But, come on! I expect more for a top of the line Multistrada navigation solution in 2021. Poor showing.
