We are really impressed with the gps tracking devices, we got 2 of them and they work seamlessly. We can customize notifications for specific events like movements and speeding, and are able to locate the vehicles at all times. This is a perfect solution for things like keeping track of your vehicle or motorcycle, as well as for company vehicle tracking. What we were most surprised by was the great customer service. As soon as we called a representative, named Bret answered (no answering machine, or some random call service). He was very friendly and helpful and solved my request right away. We highly recommend this product that comes along with this app and we will be looking into getting more of the different products that they offer.
I am leaving this review because after a year in service, a simple email exposed some of the best customer service I have seen in a while (a long while). I protect my motorcycle with dFence – it works as designed. Brett and Tony were in touch within the hour, and we determined the module needed a simple replacement. I received it the next day via Express Mail with a new power pack, charging cord and module – the replacement, pre-configured, which made replacement a snap. I just popped it on the bike, and via the app, took the old one out of service, and added the new one. Worked perfectly – first time. I have been happy with dFence since picking it up for an extra layer of security, for its many capabilities beyond a simple GPS. Customer Service however was icing on the cake, and in this day and age impressed me to no end. Nice work Folks. Mike
The two stars is for poor GPS performance and very slow updates to position. Literally miles between position updates. That being said, this is not a Dfence bashing story, I thought I would share my experience. When I bought my car one year ago, I told my local Ford dealership I did not want this installed as it added $600 the the vehicle. They said it is part of the computer in the vehicle and is “baked” into it, so it cannot be removed. Additionally, when I asked them if there was a reoccurring fee for it they said no, it is included in the price, one time charge. Two things wrong here, 1. I received an email stating to pay for a year subscription or service will be interrupted. 2. This is not part of the “computer” as Ford stated. In my vehicle the device is secured to a wiring loom under the dash with two zip ties, it receives power and data via a plug connected to the OBD2 port. I realize the deceptive sales practices of Ford is not the fault of Dfence gps. I thought they should know what is happening as it appears that they have an arrangement with some of the Ford dealers in the greater Phoenix area. This is based on my car shopping visit to five Ford dealerships, four of them said Dfence was part of the vehicle. The fifth did not advertise any additional security devices. Dfence is a Chandler AZ based company. Chandler is part of the greater Phoenix area. One more thing, I have not done this, but in my case it would take about 20 seconds to render this device useless for its intended purpose. Clip two zip ties, unplug the OBD2 connector and throw it out the window. I will update this if I get a response from Dfence or Ford. The latter I believe to be unlikely.
