DEWALT Tool Connect

For use with the dewalt lasers, it grabs the measurement just fine, but the storage system is almost archaic. Manual text input for names of measurements. Prompts you after saving every measurement if you’d like another instead of just going straight through. Interface for measurements is awful (their keyboard) and if you accidentally add a fraction, well guess you’re adding 1/32 to that measurement because there’s no way to clear it. Exporting is where it really falls apart. It doesn’t export text, it exports a freaking jpg with a massive DEWALT logo in the bottom right corner which will happily sit on your measurements underneath. Honestly this is such a poor excuse of an app for this tool. It may work well for some things but geez it’s bad for measurement.

** POSITIVE: I own a painting and remodeling company, so I am well versed in flood lights. It has always been a point of frustration for me to have to move “directional” lights around a room just to have adequate light for a project. Or fighting over the light if there are multiple guys in the same room. The fact that this light is not only a Omni directional light, (so it lights the whole room at once) but it is INSANELY BRIGHT! I also didn’t think that I would use the Tool Connect app, but it gives great info as well as being able to remotely control the light. I use a 4ah battery and will have light on the brightest setting for several hours. **NEGATIVE: It is battery only, I have heard there is a attachment out there that allows you to use a extension cord but I haven’t been able to find it yet.

Although I own countless Dewalt tools, I installed this app for the sole purpose of using it with the DCL074 light that I bought for my new shed. App installed like clockwork. Bluetooth on iPhone (running IOS 14.1) effortlessly sync’d with light. I am now able to control the light in the shed from inside my home, which is about 50 feet away from the shed-which is awesome because I previously decided not to run electrical to the shed. I have only used the app maybe 15 times but I have never had an issue with it. Love love love it.
