I am not a native English speaker but I enjoy playing this game a lot and would love to see some improvements such as: - dark mode option - including a manual to explain some things like how some words have a dot next to them and what does that indicate. - explaining how the levels work because its kinda confusing, and even after playing the game for 2 months I don't get it. For example, in the TODAYS GOAL page, why is the top level highlighted, but then we play the bottom level? And why is it called todays goal if the levels never end? Shouldn't it just be numbered levels? Are the levels updated daily or are they always there in the system waiting for ghe player to reach the level? - also, some synonyms just does not make sense at all, I wonder if they get checked by language experts.
I really liked this game when I first started playing it but there were just so many ads in between each level. When I saw that the app creator was offering a no-ad version of the game for $4.99, I read it closely before I purchased it to see that it said that this was a one-time fee. For the first month I played the game there were no ads. Some of it is kind of repetitive, but I did learn some interesting facts and felt like I was putting my mind to good use on the days I played it. Then today, BOOM, there were ads when I played the game. I started looking through the reviews and found some where people were upset that they’d purchased the no-ad version and started receiving ads. The app creator responded indicating that the “No Ads” option removes only banners and all the ads between levels. “Daily levels are still unlocked by watching reward ads.” This comment makes no sense to me and I still feel the issue needs to be resolved. How are daily levels different from other levels in the game? I am still receiving ads “between levels” so again, this does not make sense and I’ve requested a refund unless the app creator can fix the issue.
This game has a lot of potential. Graphics are simple and uncluttered, so its functionality is smooth. However, with all due respect, if you’re interested in accuracy of definitions written by qualified native English speakers, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. Also, the same words are used very regularly, often in 2 or 3 consecutive levels. If you’re just looking for something to kill time, it’s good, but if you’re frustrated by non-native or slightly inaccurate clues, you’ll be disappointed. I’ve written to support about my observations, but haven’t received responses to either e-mail. I’d still like to be optimistic, because, again, the game isn’t bad, and the function is good. They just need to bring a native English speaker with a degree or career in English if they want to achieve respectable quality in the English being used. And, yes, it’s British English, which is fine, except whether British or American English, it still suffers from overuse of the same words and frequently inaccurate use of English, which, as a teacher, editor, and proofreader, specializing in support of non-native English speakers, I can see where the problem lies if you actually notice those details.
