I already paid a one time price for this app a couple of years ago, and now they want more money for the exact same features that I already paid for? Seriously? I hate to be a Karen, but when an app is converted to a subscription, those who paid the one time price before the monetization model change are normally grandfathered in to not having to pay for the subscription and still have access to all of the content that they originally paid for. This has happened on literally every paid app that I bought long ago that went to subscription, except for this one. Tried to restore my purchase and everything... such a disappointment. I work in app development and understand the need for in-app purchases and subscription services to cover continued support & development costs, but it is a VERY bad move to force the early adopting one time fee payers into a new subscription model to access the same content that they had already paid for to be permanently unlocked. This is a very bad, unethical business practice. Shame on me I guess for having automatic updates turned on. Guess I should turn automatic updates off and read every single app update before installing from now on. But shame on the developer for not grandfathering in those who previously paid to permanently unlock the content. I’ll just go back to Googling conversions for free since having to open my mobile browser is just a minor inconvenience. Bye 👋

I have been using this app for years. The app makers had not done anything with this app for years until recently. For years, it’s been clunky and bug ridden, but it still had its functionally and I used the app because I could quickly find conversion factors I use frequently. Now, the app makers have decided that they care about the app and have switched to the greedy subscription based model the rest of world uses. My biggest beef is I’ve been using this app for a long time now and after reaching out their support team, they told me that I have to pay the subscription because of their “incredible features”. These features haven’t changed in years! And now, suddenly they cost $10 a year? I would at least expect them to offer some sort of deal to those have loyally used the app before their greed got the best of them (like most apps do…), but nope, not these folks. Looks like I’m going to stick with Google for easy and FREE conversions.

Pretty cool having every conversion that I usually input into Google in one app ready at a single click. Theoretically a designated app for conversion should be faster than opening my browser and inputting my data in the Google search bar, however that’s not the case. Every time I attempt to do a conversion I have to delete data that pre exists within the app. By the time I hit backspace multiple times to clear the field, I could’ve just used Google and saved the space on my device. If the developer can either set the app to have every field clear or set it to clear as soon as you click on the field this app will have potential. For now I will leave it installed and see if the developer fixes this small issue. If fixed the app is a keeper, otherwise I’ll go back to Google and save my storage.
