Cluedo

Firstly, the good stuff, the score sheet is much improved, you can track who has seen your cards, and I like that you can view the other players score sheets at the end of the game. You can play in landscape mode which is better for iPad players. I like that there are different play style options. The bad stuff, the graphics and animations look very dated and are too long. There are no scoreboards so you can’t keep track of how many games you’ve played, or where you come on the leaderboard like in the original game. The options for character avatars are very limited unless you’re willing to pay a lot of money for content that isn’t available and might never be available. The original game has lots of options for avatars so you don’t see the same ones all the time. If more avatar choices are released, an option to turn off the slow animation, and leaderboards are brought in, then I would be much happier with the game.

Not sure it’s much of an improvement, firstly graphics are like a old video game from 20 years ago, the old game had a nice charm about it and was pleasing to look at the rooms and the details in the pictures. Also gameplay seems slow to me, do I really need each character to pop and I say “I can’t help you” it just seems too slow, I just want ticks and crosses to quickly appear, job done! The clue sheet is clumsy, the auto number option is nice but not intelligent enough to not number when there is a tick already there, and also when you place a tick it doesn’t automatically cross the other boxes which is very annoying! And having it landscape makes the clue sheet quite small when playing on a phone, I much preferred it being portrait! It’s a shame you didn’t just make some new themes for the original game and not bother with this new game!!

This game is a massive step up from the previous Cluedo app, with much improved graphics, more game modes, unlockables and much more. Maybe an extra hard difficulty could be added for the people who have a lot of experience with Cluedo? When I play on hard, I don’t often lose. I don’t know if that’s an issue with the difficulty or not. But regardless, this is a fantastic app from fantastic developers. Lots of fun. Definitely one of the best apps so far.
