Originally I really liked this service. Paid for a year and rent bikes low cost whenever needed. Sometimes you get to a bike and it’s flat or the kick stand is broken. There can be several issues wrong with the bike but usually you can still ride. You cannot however ride when there’s a battery problem. I’ve had a dead battery once and the bike is unusable. As of late I’ve had battery issues 3 of the 4 times I rented. This particular issue means the bike can be ridden but it’s very difficult because there is no battery assist. The battery is full charged most times but it doesn’t ever kick in. This means I usually have to get off the bike and push it up any incline. If I try to return it at the next station I have to wait 15 minutes to rent again even if I reported the problem. This makes me not considering using the bikes anymore as a first option. There needs to be a solution on this front. Battery related problems should be able to be reported differently and then you shouldn’t have to wait to rent since you didn’t finish your ride so much as you are attempting to get a working bike.
I want to love this service. When it works properly, it is super convenient and very inexpensive. I have been using the service for a year now and, unfortunately, it rarely works well. Racks are often empty. When they are not empty, the bikes are often “not available” when you attempt to rent them. And when you can rent a bike, it usually has some sort of issue (bad brakes, malfunctioning battery, app communication issues, etc.). I’m not sure if the business needs to raise prices because it seems they cannot maintain their fleet under their current budget. Over the year I have been a customer, the service has diminished significantly. I would love to see it improve and become reliable—even if that means it needs to cost more.
I love this service! Bikes everywhere and super easy and affordable.
