AVAS

I recently purchased a new Toyota and discovered one of the dealer installed “options” was a GPS program which came with a $800 price tag. Dealerships are notorious for adding up charges and expecting the customer to flip the bill. This goes along with their $500 tinting, the paint protector, and all the other nonsense to add profit for the dealership. This however I find extremely concerning. When you search for AVAS, this program is merely a way for the dealership to keep you as a customer. Side by side with the Toyota app, it does nothing different that what already comes for free except it keeps the dealership informed of your activities. There is NO reason at all for the dealership to have any knowledge of what I do, where I go, or how I operate my vehicle. This is nothing more than a huge violation of my privacy. I fully intend on not only notifying Toyota of this activity, but will be contacting other agencies. If this came pre-installed; force the dealership to remove the equipment and the cost of the “add-on”. Optionally, but the vehicle you want from someone else!

I have the AVAS telematics system on 3 of my cars. My car, my mothers car , and my nephews car. The abilities and features I can utilize with it are next to none. My mother is elderly so it helps to know where she is at all times of the day. Same with my nephew, but the geofence feature allows me to know when he leaves and enters our neighborhood. Also, being he is 17 and a fairly new driver, I can see how fast he is going and when his car is off and on. This app/systems has relieved me of major anxiety and gives me piece of mind to know my family is safe and where they are at at all times. I highly recommend this product for ANYONE for their own car, and most importantly, their family! Bonus features are theft recovery, reminders, setting service appointments and lots of discount coupons when it’s time to service my vehicles! Awesome product!

I have used my app many times already from simple locating my car at the supermarket to knowing where my kids are with my car. The best came when I recently was rear ended and was able to show the police the exact time date and my speed of the accident, even they were impressed.
